Fort Kent ~ The third annual Angel Snowfest, held on March 12, in St. Agatha, was once again a tremendous success. The event was originally created to commemorate Dick and Carol Derosier who both succumbed to cancer. Each year, the event grows larger with the proceeds earmarked for Angel Flight New England and the Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund in memory of the Derosiers.
On May 12, 2016, event organizers and daughters of Dick and Carol, presented Cindy Daigle, Northern Maine Medical Center (NMMC) Chief Financial Officer and Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund Treasurer, a check for $15,000. Daigle shared the tremendous impact this generous donation will have on families of patients living with cancer. She indicated that the Cancer Fund has contributed $10,000 more to date than last year, to families in need of assistance. She said, “With the advances in cancer treatment, people are living longer and benefiting from the financial assistance that this type of event provides.” The goal of the Cancer Fund is to provide financial assistance to family members and significant others so they may accompany a cancer patient from the St. John Valley to a treatment facility outside the valley.
