Fort Kent ~ On November 30, 2015, Northern Maine Medical Center (NMMC) will open the doors to the public for an open house of the Acadia Family Health Center. The renovation project to consolidate services from the Madawaska Outpatient Center (MOPC) to the Acadia Family Health Center was completed on November 9th. All services previously available at MOPC will continue to be available at the Acadia Family Health Center. The Laboratory, Radiology and Specialty Clinics have been relocated to newly renovated spaces as part of the project. Dr. Christina Freston, NMMC’s newest OB provider, is taking new patients and will hold office hours one day a week in the Specialty Clinic of the Madawaska Center. Patients can expect to receive all services in one location, making it more convenient and efficient.
The renovations were handled by Sheridan Construction, a Maine based design and construction company, who has been involved in multiple projects at NMMC, the most recent being the Emergency Room Renovation Project. Local subcontractors were also involved in the project.
NMMC invites the public to visit the facility at an open house scheduled for November 30 from 11 am to 1 pm where informational booths will be available on such topics as: diabetes management, healthy holiday recipes, discarded drug drop-off, free home safety drug lock boxes and information on upcoming classes. Dr. Freston will also be on-hand at the event and flu shots will be available. Visitors at the event will enjoy refreshments and a chance to win a $100 fuel gift card.
