Fort Kent ~ Northern Maine Medical Center (NMMC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Erin Soucy to NMMC’s Board of Trustees. Norman Fournier, President of the Board said, “We are very fortunate that Erin has accepted the nomination. Her strong healthcare background and knowledge of the area and residents will be a tremendous asset to the Board.” NMMC Chief Executive Office, Peter Sirois echoed the sentiment and said, “We are very pleased to welcome a talented individual who has dedicated her career to healthcare.” Erin C. Soucy, PhD, RN, is the Director of Nursing and Allied Health at the University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK); she replaces Mark Chamberland.
Soucy is a 1995 graduate of UMFK where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She obtained a Master of Science degree in Nursing in 2004 at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine and a Doctorate in Education at Northcentral University in PrescottArizona, in 2011. She serves on several advisory boards: Northern Maine Community College, Northern Maine Medical Center Diabetes Advisory and Eastern Maine Community College. She is a member of the Maine Nursing Educators Consortium and the Northern Maine Medical Center Physician Recruitment Committee. She is the recipient of several awards, over her career, including: Outstanding Nursing UMFK Alum, Outstanding UMFK Faculty member, Kappa Delta Phi Honor Society, UMFK Nursing Honor Society and Outstanding Faculty Research Award. In her capacity at UMFK, she also serves as Assistant Professor of Nursing. Soucy will serve a five year term and according to Board of Trustee Bylaws, she will serve on a number of the Board’s Committees: Community Liaison, Performance Improvement, Recruitment and Retention and Personnel Committee.
