Fort Kent ~ Northern Maine Medical Center (NMMC) is delighted to announce that it is the recipient of two clinical excellence awards. According to a spokesperson from Press Ganey, “Being a winner in one category is a great achievement. Having won two different awards is truly amazing.” The first award bestowed on NMMC by Press Ganey Associates, Inc. is the 2015 Guardian of Excellence Award®. The Award is a nationally-recognized symbol of outstanding achievement in health care clinical quality. Presented annually, the award honors clients who consistently sustained performance in the top 5% of all Press Ganey clients for each reporting period during the course of one year. Only seventeen such awards were presented last year. Press Ganey utilized thirty nine active clinical quality measures to calculate NMMC’s application of best practices related to: heart attack care, heart failure, immunization, pneumonia, surgical infection prevention, stroke and blood clot prevention.
NMMC was also named a 2015 Pinnacle of Excellence Award® winner by Press Ganey Associates, Inc., which recognizes top-performing clients from health care organizations nationwide on the basis of extraordinary achievement and consistently high levels of excellence in clinical quality performance. Patrick T. Ryan, CEO of Press Ganey said, “This award is a testament of NMMC’s determination to reduce patient suffering and deliver more patient-centered care. NMMC is transforming the industry standard with their continued focus on providing high-quality care in the St. John Valley.” Only three of Press Ganey’s more than five hundred clients throughout the country were recipients of the Pinnacle of Excellence Award for Clinical Quality.
According to NMMC Chief Executive Officer, Peter Sirois, the award represents an important recognition from the industry’s leader in measuring, understanding and improving the patient experience. Sue Devoe, NMMC’s Director of Quality asserted, “The achievement of these awards is not the work of one individual, or one department. It is the work of many individuals and many departments who consistently put the patient first and aspire to deliver the right care at the right time all the time for every patient.” Devoe attended the national recognition ceremony held in Orlando, Florida, on November 12, 2015, where she accepted the awards on behalf of NMMC.
