Fort Kent ~ Nearly forty people were in attendance at the Northern Maine Medical Center (NMMC) Guild’s last meeting of the season on May 26, 2015. It is tradition for the Guild to award scholarships at the May meeting each year. Honorees and family members were invited to join Guild members for a catered dinner where the scholarship announcements were made by Doris Stevens, Guild President.
Lauren Doak and Abby Stevens of Fort Kent, both recipients last year, along with first time recipients Alexander Nadeau of Madawaska, and Sophie Ouellette of Fort Kent, were each awarded $500 toward their continuing education in a health care field. Health care choices being pursued by the students are: speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and nursing respectively. Impressive grade point averages of the four students ranged from a 4.0 to a 3.8. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet specific academic requirements and demonstrate academic and community involvement.
Anyone interested in contributing to the NMMC Guild scholarship fund may contact Doris Stevens, NMMC Guild president.
